Effect of glycolaldehyde on adipogenic factors during adipocyte differentiation in 3T3-L1 cells. A, B Confluent 3T3-L1 cells were differentiated in the presence or absence of glycolaldehyde (GA; 0.1, 1, and 10 μM) for 7 days. 3T3-L1 adipocytes were lysed and collected for Western blotting with β-actin as internal control. Protein levels were quantified using densitometric scanning. C, D mRNA expression levels of PPARγ and c/EBPα were determined by qRT-PCR. EH Expression levels of aP2, LPL, FAS, and SREBP-1c mRNA were determined by qRT-PCR. GAPDH was used as an internal control. Data presented as mean ± SEM. *p < 0.05 vs. MDI treatment
